The Hudson Public Library has moved the story walk to the Old North Road Conservation Land.
It’s a fun way to enjoy a great walk through some beautiful open space near the Forest Avenue Elementary School.
The stories change on a regular basis, keeping the walk new each time you stop by. We will send out updates whenever the stories are updated. Send us an email to get on the notification list.

How To Get There
The parking lot is located at 10 Old North Road (see map), which is between Forest Avenue and Causeway Street. There is room for 10 cars in the parking lot.
How To Follow the Story Walk
The Story Walk follows several existing trails on the site. It is mostly level and generally clear with a number of sections with well-marked roots and rocks along the path. The trail is about 3/4 of a mile when taking the short walk back. Taking the long walk back brings the walk to approximately 1 1/4 miles.
From the parking lot, follow the access trail just past the kiosk which displays this map.
Just beyond where the access path crosses the stone wall you will take a left turn onto the Pipeline Path. About 100 feet down Pipeline Path the Story Walk begins (on the right) at the start of Fern Gully.
After the introductory sign there are 16 numbered stations along the walk. Follow along to read the current story. Just past station 6 the walk takes a left turn onto Deer Loop.
The Story Walk ends at a large clearing.
To get back to the parking lot, continue on Deer Loop past the clearing and take a right turn onto Cart Path.
Short Return: Where Cart Path again intersects Deer Loop take a right onto Deer Loop and then an immediate left back onto Fern Gully. Turn left onto Pipeline Trail and in 150 feet take a right onto the Access Trail (the sign for the Access Trail to the parking lot is hard to spot, so be on the lookout for it).
Longer Return (adds about 1/2 mile to the walk): Where Cart Path again intersects Deer Loop continue straight, following Cart Path until it merges with Pine Crossing. Take a right at the intersection of the Pipeline Trail, following along the pipeline for about 750 feet, taking a left onto the Access Trail (the sign for the Access Trail to the parking lot is hard to spot, so be on the lookout for it).
